Wilkie Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I am using ACad 2009 and want to create a 3D solid for an "offset non-circular funnel" The top and bottom of the funnel are open. The top is a 6 foot radius semi-circle, and the bottom is a 8" radius full circle located say 8' below the top (Z axis). For orientation lets say looking at the top the semi-circle is a D. Then the bottom circle is offset to the right, with the 0 tangent the same as the 0 tangent for the semi-circle, if that makes sense. This solid is meant to be 3/16" thick shell. BTW, I am a new member and must say you have a great web site. I have learned much is a short time! Thanks in advance for any help you might offer Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Could you use the LOFT command? That's an unusual configuration. What is the funnel used for? Quote
Tankman Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 The attached *.pdf is a layout routine for a square to round transition. Adapt for your requirement. You might try lookin' around www.thesheetmetalshop.com. Look thru the site's library drop down menu, you might find what you need there. I'm reading, semi-circle top, flat on one side, bottom outlet offset? Sound 'bout right? Transition-Layout.pdf Quote
Wilkie Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 Remark, this is the bottom of a bulk materials storage silo. it would actuall be 1/2 of the outlet. I would mirror this object to create a bifurcated outlet system, and the two objects would create a full circle on the top. Quote
Wilkie Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 Tankman, That is about right. I guess that side could be made in a fashio similar to the PDF you submitted. Quote
Wilkie Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 Remark, I finally go t back to this project. You suggestion to use the loft command worked well. I did an off set to create a funel that would fit inside of the other, and did a subtract to create the shell, worked perfectly! Thanks for your help. Quote
ReMark Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Wikie: You're entirely welcomed. I am glad to hear the Loft command was the solution to your problem (handy isn't it?). Thank you for updating us as well. Quote
