BillB Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Hi Again Guys, This is a pure newbie question. What do you all use for Image Editing, I need to post a few screen captures with arrows and test applied to them so I can explain my "problems" a little better. Paint seems real difficult to use for this and I remember I USE to have a program that worked better but that was quite awhile back.(When I use to make a few of my own menu icons for Acad). Any suggestions or pointing to a good post would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, have a good one. BillB Quote
shift1313 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I just use paint. I run dual screen so i use ALT + prntscrn to print my active screen. then i crop things in paint, add arrows etc. Fairly simple but it does the job. Quote
BillB Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 Hey Matt, Good to hear from you. That's exactly what I do, I have dual screens also (great). Was just wondering if there was a free program out there that may be a little easier than Paint. How do you keep the Text Box from blanking out the image behind when you type text on the picture? When I try, it leaves a white blank background. Thanks BillB Hey,,, what you know,,, I figured out the text background problem, never mind on that one,,,,jeeeez, feel like Homer Simpson. Quote
shift1313 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 this is funny ive never taken a screen shot of paint for use in paint before:) kinda hard to do cause all the buttons are there twice. when you first open paint the selection tool is usually selected. You can see these two icons at the bottom. This lets you overlay your selection on top of a picture, BUT if you change this selection it also works for boxes, circles, text and so on. When you first start paint, select the bottom one to overlay your test, then make your text box. Quote
shift1313 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 also as a note, on your color pallet if you right click you will change the white box that is behind the black box(bottom left) this will be your background color on any object like circles, boxes and so on that have a fill(also on text when you dont select what i mentiond above). Also one thing thats nice is changing that second color to red, keeping the first one black(or colors of your choice), then when drawing lines or text or whatever you can use the right mouse button for that color. So when i want to use red lines, but black text, ill change the second color to red, draw my lines with the right mouse button, then i use a text box with the left mouse button(black text). Quote
BillB Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 Hey thanks Matt,,,, i saw the option about one minute after I posted my question, it's what i get for getting in a hurry. I have this Inventor problem and I KNOW I will need to post pictures an whine for some help. Thanks and take care. BillB Quote
BillB Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 Hey Matt,,,, good to know about the color change,,,,, that I didn't realize BillB Quote
MarkFlayler Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 You might try Jing from Techsmith. I use Snagit which is more developed, but Jing does a pretty good job for capture. Snagit (about 50 bucks or less) has a great editor though. Quote
