Hey everyone,

I'm AS from India working as an office engineer. I've got a lot of info from this site and I'm really happy with the amount I've got to learn. unfortunately I'm just a novice and it'll be rather difficult to make my own contributions now.

I need some help with regard to layout prints. The thing is if I want to take a printout in Autocad I use the Window option. I'm aware of viewports and all that. What I always do is align the page border, the one for my printout which contains my company name and all, to fit the layout white page. I then go about my viewports and all that and finally use a window to print.

I understand using layout is a lot faster. Can someone please let me know how to go about it?

Hi there,

not big of o pro myself, the guys here could maybe give some better advice, buth the way i go around this is:

1. Go to page setup manager, and create a page that is the exact size of the layout that I will use

2. Then go to any layout tab, and again go to page setup manager, pick the paper size you created and set as current.

3. Start drawing the frame, as start point of the line enter 0,0,0 for coordinates and it should be at the bottom left corner of the paper, then simply draw around typing in the exact measurements of the paper that you created.

Then when plotting set the plot area to layout.

You might need to tweak the drawing a little, using X and Y offset at the plot window, to adjust to your plotter better, after you have a perfect print preview, press the "apply to layout" button and autocad will save the changes you made to the layout.
