gsksun4 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I have a drawing that's plotting out light. In the layer manager, the lineweights on all the layers is set to 0.00mm. Would setting them all to default darken the plot? I have my pen weights all set to 0.0100" and that's always worked fine for me. Also, how would I set all 74 layers lineweights at the same time? I'm using 2009LT. Glenn USA Quote
ReMark Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 So you are setting lineweights in your plot style file and not in the Layer Properties Manager correct? Set all 74 at one time by highlighting the first, then press and hold the shift key while you highlight the last one. Quote
gsksun4 Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 So you are setting lineweights in your plot style file and not in the Layer Properties Manager correct? This is correct. I've never messed with them in the layer manager before. Is the 0.00mm setting causing the light lines? OK, I changed them to "default" in the layer mgr., and that didn't help. Quote
ReMark Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 CTB or STB plot style file? Layer colors: varied or predominently in the "gray" realm? Try this test. Change one of your lineweights to something quite obvious like 0.07" and do a test plot of a windowed area and check the results. Any difference? Quote

Change one of your lineweights to something quite obvious like 0.07" and do a test plot of a windowed area and check the results. Any difference? CTB plot style. Colors are mainly standard red, yel, grn, etc. I already made a new plot style called dark, and increased the lineweight thickness. It worked out fine with the lines, but not the multi-line text (Room Names) or the blocks (Room Numbers). It's a floor plan drawing. I tried changing the lineweights in the layer manager, but realized the plot style would determine the thickness when plotted. OK, I changed the plot style "DARK" again, only this time concentrated on the colors of the ML-Text and the blocks, with a more dramatic increase in lineweight and it finally worked. So much so, that I had to set them back a little to plt out normal. Thank you once again ReMark. Always appreciate your help. Glenn USA Quote
ReMark Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Try to stick with one method or the other. Mixing the two will only cause you more grief in my opinion. "Old school" was to plot using a ctb plot style because it emulated how AutoCAD handled plotting early in its history. All of our P&IDs (well, almost) and our building layouts are set up and plotted this way. For us, lighter colors equal lighter lineweights where as darker colors equal heavier lineweights. Lineweights are keyed to Pentel mechanical pencils (.3mm, .5mm, .7mm and .9mm). Those that aren't fall either outside of or inbetween these standard sizes. Example: .15mm for centerlines. Quote

gsksun4 Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 hi! i am first just joint this forums.thank you for forums maker that create this forum. i have question to ask that relevant to Layer manager. "Who can help me with the creation of the layer name" First you should start a new thread for your question. That will attract more attention. Back out of here and up on the left click on new thread. As far as a layer name, go into your layer properties manager. It's the toolbar button that looks like a stack of paper. Then up on the left side of the manager, click on the NEW button. It's the button with the one star. Then just type in the name where it's highlighted. In older versions of cad, just click on the button that say NEW and do the same. Quote
ReMark Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Layer names can be of your own choosing or they can follow some standard such as that put forth by the AIA (American Institute of Architects?). Someone correct me if I got that wrong. Anyway, the other "standard" you may follow is the one imposed by the company you work for. Many companies compile a drafting standard for use in-house so that everyone knows what is expected and all the drawings produced have the same look and feel to them. Quote
