Text & nodes/points in UCS/3D Views

Hi,

I have been drawing in 2d for years and am now looking at drawing using 3d points and ucs's.

My issue is text, in plan (2d) my text is all visible, when I define my ucs for a particular elevation and flip to front view (or any view really) the the text and points are not visible, well they are but they are straight lines. It would be great if there was a command to always have text flipped up to be readable, but have the true 3d insertion, likewise with the points.

I hope this makes sense, and look forward to a simple answer!!

All entities created in AutoCAD are created in the current UCS. If you want text visible in an elevation view set your UCS to the "View" option in the UCS command after you have switched to the elevation view and then create your text.

Or, here's a trick that you might consider to make the text viewable in both top and front.

After creating your text in plan view, switch to the side view and set your UCS to "View". Select the text (it will only appear as a line) and rotate it about its insertion point 45 degrees.

Switch to plan or front and you will be able to read it. It will have a different height aspect so you might want to adjust the text style to elongate the height.

Cheers Patrick I'll give it a go now.

I was kinda hoping there was an intelligent setting that would keep it's insertion but display it relative to the current ucs! Like (slightly) how you can mirror text but not it doesn't mirror the actual text so it is still readable, it just mirrors the physical text position.
