YZ Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I have a drawing that is 377kb. I have used the ATTACH command to put in a PDF underlay. The PDF is 16Mb. I can print sheet 1 which does not show the PDF. But sheet 2 just shuts down my AutoCAD and the best I can get is about 45% of the plan before the plotter just spits out blank paper. Does anyone know a trick to plotting larg files or to reducing a PDF file size? Thanks. Quote
olicanauk Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Try changing the plotter settings so you are using the computer memory to process the document rather than the printer memory. On HP Plotters the setting is on the advanced tab under printing preferences. It will print slower but should finish. Quote

That worked a treat. Thanks olicanauk. You're a genius mate. As a related question, does anyone know how to reduce a PDF size? When creating the same set of plans as PDF for emailing the size of the file is simply too big! Quote

I print to *.pdf using AutoCAD's generator. However I then open the *.pdf with Adobe Pro and reduce the file size. I also use the Adobe Pro to add *.pdf's to the file I'm working with. From the document drop down menu, "Insert File." I then get the opportunity to add a page, first, last, or wherever I need it. Quote
