Fire Alarm Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I do not know if this is possible, so hopefully you all can help me. I my blocks to automatically count themselves when they are inserted into a drawing. The tricky part, and this is what I am unsure of is; if it is possible to sync the blocks so that they number themselves automatically in a specificed order? For example, if I insert a smoke detector and the first address is 01010001, and then I need to insert a heat it will automatically address itself as 01010002. Same thing with modules. If I insert a pull station and the address is 01010126, and the another pull station or module would sync to 01010127. Thanks for any help. Quote
JoeC Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I'm sure you could probably do this with a LISP. Have you tried a search for such a LISP? This sounds like a job for Lee Mac. Hopefully, he'll see this post and help you out!! Quote
JoeC Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I found a discussion thread with a similar question at: http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=483846 A couple of LISPs are attached here that may get you on the right track! Quote
Fire Alarm Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 JoeC that forum gave me lisp that will work perfectly, however I would want to take it one step further. That would be to have the blocks automatically number themselves when they are inserted into the drawing. I am still new at lisp routines, so this is over my head. I got so many ideas, but without the know of lisp I don't think they will get accomplished. I'm trying to learn them now. Thanks for the help. Quote
JoeC Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Yeah, Fire Alarm, LISP is really over my head also, but the knowledge to do what you want is in this forum. The right person just hasn't seen your question yet. I have paid a couple of folks from this forum to write a specific LISP for me, and it has been well worth a small fee to gain some office productivity!! Good Luck. Quote
Fire Alarm Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Thank you again for all your help. For the small amount of time that I have been subscribed to this forum. I can say that this is the best forum with the most knowledgable members that I have had the pleasure to be in contact with. My opinion of course. Quote
