I have a drawing that has come in from a supplier, but it has too much detail on it, and I'd like to make it a little simpler. I reckon that if I could delete any objects below a certain size threshold, it would take out 90% of the objects in the drawing, but would still be an acceptable representation for my purposes. Does anyone know of a way of doing that?

Too much detail? How about freezing some layers? What kind of drawing is this?

It's a drawing of a fan - and everything is on one layer. Judging by all the tiny bits of spline and arc everywhere it was generated from a 3D model.

Why don't you just have them send you the original file (3D) and you can extract the 2D view(s) you need yourself?

Have you tried the QSelect command? You can make the Object Type a line or a polyline and you can select Length as the Property. For the Operator you can choose Greater than or Less than.

I've just tried Qselect, and it does exactly as you've described. Unfortunately my original assumption that doing that would make the drawing better is not the case. I was just being lazy - what I need to do I guess is just strip the drawing down manually.

Thanks for all your help though ReMark, and I'm sure I'll make use of qselect in the future

Sounds labor intensive. Sorry to here QSelect did not work as you expected.

And, don't forget!
