chelsea1307 Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 So, I have finally convinced some of the engineers that using fields is a good thing... YAY... now they want to know if its possible to link the attributes (which contain the fields) to an excell table. I know i can do a data extraction and have them extracted to an excel and they are pretty happy about that but i would like to take it one step further and not have to extract after changes. any ideas or suggestions much appreciated Quote
chelsea1307 Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 I got this in email Why is it that instead of using attributes linked to a spreadsheet or using fields linked to a database we want to link fields to a spreadsheet and attributes to a database? I have to wonder if engineers really know what they want? but it doesnt appear to be here as a comment... But yea it seems backwards and in general it is for us, the problem is the way this whole project has been set-up. The engineer deciding the information has it put into autocad by one of the drafters (uses a computer for email and web surfing only) He doesnt realize that things would be easier if they went into an excell sheet, he doesnt understand the linking that can be done, he wants to do it the way he always has even if it takes longer and is and has more chance of error, im trying to take what he does and make it easier to create our schedules and calcs knowing he's not going to change the method in which he works Quote
ReMark Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Really? I typed it and then deleted it after thinking about it. My bad. Quote
