hi everyone.. am just a newbie here but am already familiar with Autocad as im using it since the 2000i version but i guess my knowledge is just a little on the average level..

my purpose in registering here is to inquire about the "freezing" im experiencing in our company's newly bought Autocad 2010 softwares.. everytime i perform a random command the mouse and keyboard and the whole system just freezed from 30 sec to 3 minutes! and it gets too annoying sometimes when i got a whole load of editing to make it just adds to my frustrations on my job! do you people also experienced this? what seems to be the problem? btw our pc is also brand new hp 320gb hdd so i guess no problem with hardware.. thanks very much..

The hard drive size has nothing to do with performance. And just because the computer is brand new doesn't mean it can do the job that is expected. What are the full computer specs? Processor? RAM? Video card?

Also, what type of work are you doing? 2D or 3D?

What are the file sizes of these drawings?

I have moved your question to its own thread. In the future, please start a new thread when you have a question, rather than tacking your question on to the end of someone elses thread.

Prior to 2010 you did not load, and have running, another version of AutoCAD?

As Cad64 mentioned full specs on your computer would be a good place to start.

What OS are you running?

Is this a 32-bit or 64-bit system?

hi Cad64 & ReMark, thanks for replying. its a newly bought machine and my company bought 3 of this same specs pc and it seemed only me is having this problem or was it because i use it extensively (they just use autocad when they need to view or comment on my drawings). anyways here is what i found out:

XP SP2 OS

Core2Duo E7500 2.93Ghz

3.46GB RAM

Display is Intel Video (sorry cant find how much graphic memory)

just doing 2D drawings and file size range from 1mb to 2.5mb.

thanks.

On the surface nothing seems to be out of order.

The drawings have all been produced in-house? No drawings from an outside source?

No error messages of any kind?

Did you also load Update 1 for 2010?

What anti-virus program are you running?

Re: Update 1. Type the word About at the command like. You should see a window come up with a button on the right hand side saying Product Information. Click on it. In the next window is your product license information. Is there any mention of an update?

Are you the only person who works with drawings from the contractor company?

Can you temporarily disable your anti-virus software?

Correction

The information we're looking for is actually located in the upper left-hand corner of the first window that appears. If Update 1 was installed then your screen will show something similar to this:

Version D.215.0.0, AutoCAD 2010 - English Version 2

thanks for your prompt reply ReMark..

there is no mention of Update 1 on the window that appeared, only the License Name, Serial Number, License Type, Behaviour and ID..

my coworker only views the files i have edited and they say they didnt experienced this sort of behaviour..

The information I asked you to check appears on the first window that comes up after you have executed the About command. Does it say English Version 1 or 2?
