Simplify my life please

Hello I am new to this forum and i am looking for some help.

I have been using autocad for a few years now for vary basic functions but i am looking for a way to simplify my process. Basically I am wonder if it is possible to select multiple enclosed plines and generate a report giving me the areas that then could be exported to excel.

For example on a floor plan i need to draw out multiple enclosed plines to identify their individule SF ie. (Kitchen, Restroom, Offices..etc) is it possible to link these pLines to a table that will identify their area name and SF? I feel if there is a way to save years of my life tediously copying and pasting one area at a time switching back and forth from cad to excel it would truly be a life saver.

Not even sure if i am in the right area and if not please point me in the right direction.

Thanks:)

If LT has it, you could use DataExtraction.

The 2008 Lt has something called Attribute extraction but i dont know where to start to pull SF from Pline to excel?

I think you would need a custom lisp routine to do that, but unfortunately, LT does not have lisp capability.

Thats what its looking like. Any other ideas or solutions out there?

Maybe you could show boss how much time you would save with a full version of AutoCAd & a lisp routine to automate it, and he/she will purchase it to actually save money. If price is still the obstacle, consider a clone program like ProGECAD (and with a lisp). But would have the problem of switching to that when you need an area report.

You mention "draw out plines"; does that take a lot of time, have you tried using the "boundary" command instead?
