bangsistro Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Hello guys. I have problems unistalling an autocad 2010 educational version. I did it with the unistalling option from windows vista because I could get a registered version but when I am trying to install my n ew commercial version appears the educational version and wont give me a chance to register my new one. I unistalled several times and tried to delete the whole files I saw are related to theprogram but when I install it again THE SAME PROBLEM the educational version. Is there something that I can do abvout it? someone knows when can I find a hidden file who automatically detects the installation and turn it on an student version? I tried install the project off line but it is still there!! is anoying!!! Thanks for the help and now that I discovered this forum I will be almost everyday on it is fantastic!!! Also I can bring new ideas I have a lot of experience on the architectural field no only making drawings!!! Quote
Cad64 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Any drawings you created with the educational version will always display the educational stamp, but new drawings created with the commercial version should not contain the stamp. If new drawings are showing the stamp then you should contact Autodesk and ask them for assistance. Quote
bangsistro Posted December 27, 2009 Author Posted December 27, 2009 Thank you CAD 64 but may be I didn't explain myself right. What I am looking for is for information who allows me to install my new 2010 version because every time I install it appear the educational version and it don't allow me to use my validating code or what I mean doesn't appeart the validating code wizard to do it because some file turn my new installation on an STUDENT VERSION again and again and again even when I am off line so I do not know what to do to delete all the information on my computer who identify the student version automatically. Hope this time is clear thanks. And by the way the other option I found is having an older version of autocad then open the file on the newest ans save it on an older version like cad-13 and open the file again on an older non-educational version it will remove the ANOYING educational version titles arround your prints but also can do some weird things to the drawing! but works! THANKS AGAIN AND IF SOMEONE HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION OR IF WHAT I SAID IS NOT CLEAR I WILL BE GLAD TO EXPLAIN IT BETTER ANY TIME! Quote
JD Mather Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 You need to find the AutoCAD Clean Uninstall document (doesn't matter that it is edu version) and follow the instructions INCLUDING Registry edit (not for beginners). (search Google) Then you need to run Windows Install Clean Up (search Google). Now install your commercial license and register to activate the license. Actually, you never needed to uninstall the educational version. All you needed to do in the beginning was go to Help>About AutoCAD>Product Information>Update and type in your new Serial Number and then click on the Activate button (all in same dialog box). This would have changed your edu license to a commercial license with minimum of effort. All work done once the license is changed to commercial will not show the edu banner. But any work previously done with student license will always have the edu banner. Any work to be used for commercial purposes must be redone in the commercial license. Any attempt to circumvent this is considered a violation of your EULA. Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Once you are up and running with the full commercial version be aware that using content created with the educational version in the full version is NOT recommended. Doing so will add the educational stamp to your new drawing which is something you'll want to avoid. Quote
