Incoming Drawing Control....

....Help !

I have just started work for a company that has no incoming drawing control...this has resulted in multiple same rev copies of drawings being on the server, this obviously makes revision control difficult and takes up an awful lot of space.

How do other people control this ? I have seen various systems but I'm not sure which ones workbest...we can recieve over 100 drawings for quoting purposes and then be unsuccessful ingetting the job so a lot of time could be wasted logging and filing drawings for no benefit.

Any ideas ?

There are some very good drawing management applications on the market that not only automate the indexing and stroage of incoming drawings but also manage them throughout their various life cycle events, handling of various revision rules, etc.. We have a lot of clients using autoCAD and these products to ease the process and also reduce risk of costly errors.

It looks like Innovation is strictly a one message (in four threads) kind of guy. It gets boring after a while.

It would be nice if he would let us know what these drawing management applications are, instead of just posting the same cryptic message four times with no explanation of what he's talking about.

Maybe its a novena. Doesn't he have to post it eight more times?
