lines to polylines

is there any way of converting a load of lines to polylines

i have a road network for most of derbyshire and the roads are drawn in a mix of lines and polylines havin such a large area of info i want to adjust the width of the ploylines so they show up but as you can imagen i end up with loads of gaps where the lines sit

so can i convert the line to polyline with out goin to each one and PEDITing it??
