timhall Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 AutoCAD places dimensions on the current layer but what if you want all dimensions to be on the same layer. Is there a way to force a layer to dimension style. Every time I dimension my drawing I have to make sure i'm using the same layer or else my dimension strings look different when I print. If you have any ideas I woukd greatly appreciate it. Quote
mdbdesign Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 If you use button set macro: ^C^C-la;set;dimension;; on front of every dimension commands on dimension toolbar. Once you set up dwg template with dimension layer (or other name) you never need to worry about changing layout. Quote
stopandgo Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 If you have already finished your drawing, I would suggest turn on all layers, QSELECT everything, filter for dimension objects, then set them all to the one layer you want, making sure their properties are all set By-Layer too Quote
ReMark Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Dimensioning is usually the last thing I do in a drawing so I just switch to my DIMS layer (part of our template) and go at it. I'll bet you are drawing an object then dimensioning immediately afterward. Right? Quote
