jp071848 Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I seem to have a problem with certain dialog boxes in AutoCAD LT2000, and can't find any reference to the problem anywhere on the Web. When I select "Save As" or "Open" from the File menu, the main AutoCAD window behaves as normal and grays out as it should, but the Windows dialog box which should appear for the action is missing/hidden/invisible. The missing dialog box responds to keyboard inputs such as or , but the box itself is not visible. Other dialog boxes such as PLOT or NEW work fine. Setting FILEDIA to 0 allows me to "Save As" or "Open" from the Command Line as it should, but setting it to 1 does not bring the box visible. Out in-house Help Desk is also stumped. A re-install did not help. I did not have the problem when I had LT 2002, but they regressed me to 2000 claiming a compatibility problem with XP,and that's when the problem appeared. Help would be appreciated. Thanks... Jeff Quote
RobDraw Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Try playing with your display settings. You might be able to get them to show up by maxing out your resolution. Gotta laugh at your help desk making you downgrade windows. Quote
Arizona Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 The box is possibly hiding behind your main autocad. Try sliding the main app half way off your monitor, then start the command, to see if the box is back there. Quote
jp071848 Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks folks. I tried all this stuff long before I posted. The dialog boxes remain lost even when all other windows are minimized, showing only the desktop on each of the two monitors. Both screens are already at max resolution. ...and yes, I too surprised when our IT folks decided to bring me back to 2000. They claimed at the time that LT 2002 won't work in XP Pro, which it doesn't. Quote

jp071848 Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 I can see why you are referred to as a Forum Deity. I am able to bring the dialog boxes back in view, thanks very much. I can only assume that I created this problem when I was setting and resetting my two monitors between primary and secondary, left and right, as the missing dialog boxes were off the left side of the left monitor. Arizona Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I thought that would be it, somewhere off the screen. WTG Ipseifert! Quote
