Drawing scale and Annotative Text & Dimension

:?

When setting dimension components relative to the final printed size, in the dimension style dialogue box or example 50:1, my current practice Acad 2007 and prior thereto, is to multiply the text size 2.5mm by the scale factor 50 = 125.

The line text as portrayed in text style dialogue box , is set to "0" as the size is adjusted to suit the dimension size settings.

ACad 2010 includes anotative in both the dimension and text style settings boxes. This has left me confused as what annotative represents.

I am working in model space.

I have two questions with regard to the above.

QUESTIONS:

1) Which scale needs to be set in the dimension style dialogue box:

a) Under "Fit" appears two choices, i.e. "Scale dimension to layout".

and b) "Use overall scale"

2) I am looking for a basic introduction to Annotative both for dimension and lline text settings?

I am looking forward to your response.

Just make one dimension style for your 1:1 dimensions. On the 'Fit' tab, set the scale to 'Annotative'.

Observe the 'Annotation scale' control in the status bar. When you create a dimension with this new style it will only have one scale attached - The one that was active when you created the dimension. You will need to add further scales using the 'OBJECTSCALE' command (right click on the annotation and choose 'add/delete scales').

When you go out into paper space use the 'View port scale' tool in the status bar to set the scale of your view port. Only the annotations that have that scale attached will be visible, and they will be scaled correctly to the view port.

To preview how this works in model space set the 'Annotation visibility' control in the status bar to 'Show objects for current scale only'. As you change the annotation scale your annotations will turn themselves on and off as appropriate.
