gotchy Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 If I were to sketch two 1" circles 1" apart and aside from one another , then I wanted to sketch a third circle 3" in diameter in the center of and above the two 1" circles, how would I snap the tangent of the 3" circle to the tangent of the 1" circles.? What is the exact sequence, please. gotchy Quote

BIGAL Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 We swore and carried on as to why Fillet did not work sometimes with two arcs adding a third. Found the answer here. Just remember if you have arcs you need to draw a circle then trim, it would be nice if Fillet worked but for those interested there are 4 possible solutions for two arcs with a middle arc added automatically hence why fillet screws up sometimes. gotchy Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Sorry I do not understand this at all. Way over my head. gotchy Quote

gotchy Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Neither one. Let me see if I can explain it differently. I have two one inch diameter circles at the bottom, and I want the arc of a 2 inch circle to snap to each of the two one inch circles at the top tangent of each circle. Actually, all I need is the arc of the larger circle, (maybe 50 degrees of the circle), so I can trim it off of the circle first if that is what I need to do, then just contend with snapping the left end and the right end of the arc to each of the tangent of the two one inch circles. What I need is the sequence, in other words what do I have to select first, then second, etc. If you want me to submit a sketch, let me know. gotchy Quote
paulmcz Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 After the two - 1" circles are drawn Type: c + Enter T + Enter click at the top of one circle then top of the other circle then type 1 + Enter trim the larger circle as needed Quote
BIGAL Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Extra to paulmcz Circle command TTR is tangent (first circle) tangent (second circle) enter radius required Quote
gotchy Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 Thank you all very much. gotchy Quote
