SolidWorks menu button in AutoCAD

The boss had asked me a while back to download the trial version of SW so he could look at it and see if it made sense for his business, as some of his potential customers use it. He is running AutoCAD 2002 otherwise.

After doing so, I now have a SolidWorks choice on my menu bar up top. Everytime I start AutoCAD, it says it is loading some SW toolbar or system files. There was another menu choice it had added as well. I never use them, so I tried to delete them. I got the one to go away, but not the one that says 'SolidWorks' on it. Not sure why I could just wipe out the one. Anyone know how to get the SolidWorks one to go away? It's not really a problem I don't think, but just bugging me, and I'd rather not be starting SW add-ins or whatever they are each time I start AC.

Also, are the two programs designed to work together somehow? I figured there would be some kind of file compatibility based upon which formats files are saved in, but I was surprised to see a SolidWorks menu show up in AutoCAD.

there is an add-in on SW called DWGEditor i think. Not sure why it would integrate a menu into Acad but you could try opening SW and going to Tools>add-ins and turning it off.

Did you remove the trial version of SW off your machine ?

This is on the computer at work. And I am a consultant, and the client is set on certain things. Like running with only 1 GB of RAM (which I've gotten a lot of flack on the forum for that). The boss had asked me to install it to be able to tell a prospective customer that he had SW. It was a 90 day trial, and has since expired. But it's his machine, so I have not messed with it. Many days, the extra toolbar bugs me and I get close to just deleting all the SW files altogether, but I don't. I have only two more weeks on this job it looks like, so I'm just gonna grin and bear it.

The funny part will be when my replacement tries to pull up my files on that computer and can't make there way around my customized pgp file!!! Thanks to all the tips I got on the forum here, they won't know how to do anything....

In fact, in my spare time after thisI am going to try and learn SW for my next job. It seems like a more widely used tool in the product engineering area for mechanical engineers (which I am and have had most of my experience in product). So, I will keep this thread in mind if I have the same problem then.

Yes, It's certainly worth learning SW. I don't know the trend over in the states, but it's very popular over here and I'm certainly glad I can use it well.
