Copac Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Hi all, Dont know if this is in the right section but ill try it anyway. I have just recently started using Civil 3d (by recent I mean this morning!) and I am having some problems (big surprise). I am trying to create contours in civil 3d so I can reimport them over the top of my autocad drawing. The data I have now is in a csv file with headings of Easting, Northing and elevation. From my understanding, I have to create a surface and then create contours from this surface. How do I go about this? Do I have to create a TIN file? how do I do this? Do I have to define the boundaries with polylines or can extent points on my drawing be used for this? I am using Autocad 2010 and civil 3d 2010. Thanks Copac Quote

lpseifert Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 A similar question was asked here http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=44650&highlight=surface Keep in mind that the contours displayed in C3D are a 'style', not plines as you are probably used to. You'll need to 'Extract objects from surface ' or 'Export to Autocad' to make the contours usable in vanilla Acad. Quote
