Now then.

I'm trying to draw a 32mm copper pipe elbow, I've drawn my polyline to the dimensions I require including a 8mm radius fillet. Now when I try to extrude my 16mm radius circle along this path AutoCAD is telling me that the object cannot be extruded, however it's more than happy to follow the path without the fillet, what is going wrong!?

Well I've found one way of drawing it but it's a pain in the bum, if anyone does know what the problem is or how to resolve it please let me know, I can't be bothered drawing a smaller pipe then offsetting faces to make it work!

I couldn't draw this properly either.

The radius of the polyline prior to extruding needs to be 16 to work.

I've tried using the Loft command (not present in early versions of AutoCAD) and ended up with a mess......tried to fix it by combining two solids but it still isn't pretty (see attached).

I've managed it eventually only by drawing a pipe half the size then offsetting the faces until I get the desired diameter, I'll try the radius at 16 next time on my extrusion path, I've attached what I ended up with.

Just laying out the centerline in 2D (with the stipulated fillet radius of 8mm) then offsetting the line 16mm to either side illustrates the nature of the problem. The inside radius wants to be squared off. That does not make AutoCAD happy thus the reason for the failure of the command.

Yeah I see what you mean now ReMARK just had a look at it, and what I've now discovered is when drawing an elbow the radius of the fillet in the centreline path needs to be the same as the diameter of the pipe. It's so simple I'm mad I didn't realise it before.

Good thing you had that second cup of coffee. It sharpened your mind and improved your eyesight. :)
