BrentonJohn316 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I have a very important question, that no one seems to be able to answer about my titleblock attributes. My boss put me incharge of re-engineering our company's titleblock and I know there has got to be a way to have a default drop down list in my attribute prompt that comes up. For instance...If the attribute has a place to enter in a certain "Branch" or "Material" for a project, instead of having to type out everything over and over again, is there a way to create a drop down list of branches and materials that are defaulted??? How would this be done? I made a titleblock with all the attributes I need, and all I need to do is make it even more easier by minimizing the typing for us. I cant find ANYTHING involving an answer for this question or a tutorial video. Any help would be so very much appreciated! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is a picture I found that would be somewhat of an end result that I am trying to do: Quote
David Bethel Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I don't think that you will be able to that via DDATTE type input. And with LT, you won't be able to make a custom DCL box and lisp routine. Sorry. -David Quote
DNK Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 You can make the titleblock dynamic, and have those specific attributes pull from a lookup action. Quote
BrentonJohn316 Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Our company has 2008 FULL version available if I need to use that. If that were the case david, would this process be possible? ...And if so, that would leave me with the dreadful question of "How do I do this"...is that where the titleblock dynamic would come into play? p.s. I have been pulling my hair out researching this question that I am to the point of offering money for someone to show me how to do this Quote
David Bethel Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 If DNKs option works, that would be the best option. A custom program and DCL can be quite intense and very limited ( or very job specific ) -David Quote

Are the drop down options constant or variable? Each line for the drop downs would be different than one another (ex. Branch Name, Material, Drawn By, etc) Quote

JohnM Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 i have a program on my website jmhsoftware.com that might work for this. download the QD attribute editor it allow you to create databases for attributes. Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Hmm, VBA/Lisp won't work in Autocad LT. Dynamic blocks will work, but you only get one Visibility parameter. You could create a number of Dynamic blocks, and group them together... Basically Autocad LT won't do what you want. Autocad will, If your boss is prepared to upgrade the whole office and spend a little on some custom programming! Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Dammit, I accidentally posted twice... sorry. Quote
guitarguy1685 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 da*n you Pablo! the DCL imao is the easy part. I've always found it difficult to get the LISP to drive the DCL file. I don't see why you can't do this with DCL/Lisp if you have a full version AutoCAD. And any computer that wants to use this LISP will need a full version. so it does you no good to spend the time to program it for use on 1 computer. Quote
