Grigs Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 This has been happening lately and I need to figure out why. When an existing dwg is opened or an xref is modified and reloaded, all the layers in the xref are turned back on. I know I can use the Layer States feature, but I would like to find out why it happens. Does anyone have any ideas? Quote
Crazy J Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 If it is possible to draw everything in your XREF file on Layer 0 and then load the XREF onto whichever layer it belongs on in the main file (have that layer 'current' when you load the XREF), this should simplify the number of layers and wierd things happening when using the XREFs. bonehead411 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I believe there was a thread about this within the last couple of days. If my memory serves me correctly, I think it had to do with the setting of the VISRETAIN variable. Ah, here it is:http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=45240 Quote
Grigs Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 Yeah, I've heard about the VISRETAIN variable before. From what I remember, the xref should have a VISRETAIN=0 and the carrier sheet should have a VISRETAIN=1? Quote
