milkatinka Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I have never done that before and i also don't know if 6 means height or it is just the length of one side of the object. I have to draw two pattern developments in which the front view is the transition largest side(14") and two with the 10" side as a front view. I also have to calculate the area of each development. HVAC PATTERN 10x14x6?? Quote
rkent Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Are the transitions from square to round? I would guess that they want a 10" round to a 14x6 rectangle transition. My ductulator says a 10" round is equal to a 14x6 rectangle duct. Quote
milkatinka Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 it is rectangular to rectangular transition Quote
rkent Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 it is rectangular to rectangular transition My next guess is 10"x10" to 14"x6" transition. Quote
tzframpton Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I'm assuming its plan view only, and you're wanting the surface area. So it'll be 14" wide on one side, then 10" wide on the opposite end, with 6" of length. My first guess its that it's a "pattern" which usually means flat pattern in the HVAC fitting world. My second guess is just that it doesn't give enough info or follow a true standard for creating an accurate fitting. Quote
Tankman Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I haven't searched the forum however, this same assignment was posted long ago. Is this a school project? Try this http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6469&highlight=hvac+transition&page=2 Quote
milkatinka Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 It is a school project. I received more notes from my teacher. The length is 14",it is a transition from 14x6 duct to 10x6 duct. Quote

Check Mr. Mather's post, link above! "It is a school project. I received more notes from my teacher. The length is 14",it is a transition from 14x6 duct to 10x6 duct." I, if remembering correctly, (14x6) x (10x6) x 14" high. Quote
