danandes Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I had to reinstall AutoCad 2010 because I had a problem with my computer and after that, when I open a file that is well linked with its xref`s, all the paths are not found and I have to find every xref and images! If somebody knows about this item, please tell me something! danandes Quote
Cad64 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I have moved your question to it's own thread. You will get more answers if you start a new thread, rather than tacking your question on to the end of someone else's. Regarding your problem. Have you moved folders around on your computer. If you move a folder, Autocad will not be able to find your xrefs and you will have to repath them. You can use the REDIR command to do this quickly and easily. Quote
Coosbaylumber Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I heve re-established a XREF path a few times now. One computer here has two hard drives and the other one. Thus you cann swap the files but not always does in look the same. 1. You need to either get latest edition of teh XREF files onto your hard drive from older disk, or if already done, you then need to FIND it within the Windows system. Make written note here too. If you cannot find it, then it don't exist as far as Windows and ACAD knows. If on a server, look there too. 2. Then go and open up your problem file, and it ought to say can't find .....dwg upon beginning. Say YES, I understand, but keep going... Let it finish off though. You ought to see a whole bunch of big notes with XREF ....dwg shown. 3. The type in XREF, and P(ath) and it ought to ask a few questions then. Which XREF and now, where is is located at? Fille in with the name, and then the location for the file. At this point it is establishing another direct of substitute link to the file route on your hard drive. 4. Do not got through All of the drawing file errors, but maybe 1/3rd of them. Close, and get out to begin again, and see if same "exact" error messages appear. It will look similar, but not exactly the same. Wm. Quote
Tiger Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Another option is to use the Reference Manager (a separate program in your Autodesk folder) and re-path all your xrefs. Quote
danandes Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 :unsure:My drawing is at the same place and all the project structure is at the same place, I reinstalled the autocad 2010 in the same PC and the files are in the same net. But when I open a file its xrefs are lost, I have to find all the paths! Thanks Quote
Tiger Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Are there no X-refs in the x-ref manager or are all the x-refs unreferenced? If they are unreferenced, then you have three solutions above. IF they are not there - then yes, I doubt that you can do anything but attach them all again. UNless you find a BAK-file that is correct. Quote
