Hey guys,

I am having some trouble with scaling when i try to do it in the layout. I click inside the viewport to locate my model and make it appear comfortably inside the viewport. I then click on the viewport to bring up the blue boxes on the corner to change the scale. When i change the standard scale to 1:100 the image becomes larger and i lose it. When i find my model again the standard scale has returned back to custom. I use the metric system and i have not changed the scale in model space. This is using AutoCAD 2010

Thanks, any advice would be brilliant!!

What size layout are you using?

What have you drawn and how big is it in model?

A4 size layout, its a floor plan and its 28000mm by 17000mm.

Thanks for helping :)

Yeah mate you'll never get that to show at 1:100, you'll need 1:150 or 1:200.

1:150 isn't part of the standard scale list so run the 'scalelistedit' command and add it to the list in the dialogue box.

hmm just tried that then, but same outcome. instead of my model getting smaller it gets bigger. Any other ideas?

Hmm that is interesting!

Can you post your drawing file up and I'll have a look at it?

BTW can you save it in 2007 format.

Right got it. Go to your page set up manager, set plot scale to 1:1, you had it on custom, which was making your viewport about 10mm big. Now your layout will be actual A4 and you can make your viewport the right size.
