gofindsam Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Is there tips for speeding up the opening and switching betweeen drawings? The new layer flyout is slow, I can eat a sandwich waiting for a drawing to plot! What happened to the automatic highlighting of the last dwg opened when I return to the open drawing dialog box? can that be brought back? thanks Quote
ReMark Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 AutoCAD 2010...OK. What are your system specs (hardware)? Are we talking a 32-bit or 64-bit system? What OS are you running? Has the OS been kept up-to-date with critical updates and hot fixes? Did you download and install Update 1 for your version of AutoCAD 2010? The more details you provide the better. Quote
rkent Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 First things to try, Dock the command line, close the new layer manager palette. Make sure all paths in Options, Files do exist. Check every single one of them and varify they are truly there. Turn off digital signature information (uncheck box in Options, Open and Save, lower left) Quote
rkent Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 If that doesn't help see attached. SPEED UP AUTOCAD 111209.pdf Quote
Lee Mac Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I found that the Communication Center really really slows down AutoCAD 2010 - with really high CPU usage. So I switched the whole thing off. Quote
DVDM Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 In regards to the slow layer flyout; I believe this is quite a common problem, and the solution is simple, just not documented in Help. Type LAYERDLGMODE in your command line, and change the setting from 1 to 0. This changes your layer window back to the classic version. It's much quicker to open and work in and not buggy like the new layer pallette. The only downside is you can't work in your drawing while this window is open, but the improved speed makes more than up for it. Also, I try to keep the Properties pallette closed because it can be very slow to refresh, instead using the 'quick properties'. Especially when these pallettes are set to 'auto hide' I find them really slow and annoying. Quote
LearningQuickly Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I found that the Communication Center really really slows down AutoCAD 2010 - with really high CPU usage. So I switched the whole thing off. This is what was slowing my 2010 down. Once I disabled it, haven't had any hang-ups. Hope that you get things sorted out. Quote
