Derek Toering Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 What is the best way to do this? If we want to insert a schematic ( for example ) from a supplier company into our drawings, the problem in the past is that they have come out a bit blurry, and not really up to the standard of the rest of the drawing. I believe we just saved the schematic pdf as a jpeg then inserted the file through raster. (i think it was raster) Is this the best way to do it, and does the image quality relate simply back to the pdf itself? I am using autocad 2010. Quote
ReMark Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Imageattach is the command you're looking for. Does the image have to be included as part of the drawing? Could you not hyperlink to it? Quote
Derek Toering Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Ok i'll try that. It does need to be inserted because the guys on site will need to see it. It's not very often we need to do this sort of thing. Quote
ReMark Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I've used three hyperlinks to three different PDF files in one drawing. The PDF files were manufacturer cut sheets of piping details for a boiler and a gas train. Quote
Tankman Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Convert the *.pdf to a *.dxf, save as a *.dwg. Save. Copy the *.dwg and paste into your *.dwg. Done, clean. Quote
ReMark Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Tankman: How good is the conversion process? Quote
Tankman Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Tankman: How good is the conversion process? Depends on how (program) the *.pdf was created. Tiff format is ugly. Most others are OK but need tweaking. A *.pdf created from a CAD program is very nice although not perfect. The *.dwg files need some cleansing but, a BIG time saver when you need it now. Take a peek-a-boo at a couple of *.dwg files I posted under "Sprinklers" in the forums. These were created from *.pdf's converted into *.dwg's. Quote
Sandi Munari Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Does anyone know how to eliminate the line around a .pdf when it inserts into a CAD drawing? I converted the .pdf into a drawing, but that didn't work...any suggestions? Quote
cadvision Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 If you are going to work on the raster file that you want to attach you might be better off using a product like WiseImage from CSoft www.csoft.com You can run as a Windows app or inside AutoCAD (some older versions of LT also) Quote
bjenk8100 Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 i have wondered that in the past. if you click that box around a pdf and hit delete it deletes it. i have done some crazy things in the past to do it though. open pdf screen shot it, go to micro paint, print to pdf worked once. print original pdf, scan it, sometimes that works.
