AQucsaiJr Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I have ACAD-E 2010 and my clients have ACAD-E 2009, they can not open my drawings because they were saved last by me in a newer version of AutoCAD. How do I fix this problem? Quote
dbroada Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 my version of electrical looks identical to vanilla AutoCAD so when you do a SAVE AS change the drop down list to 2007 iyswim If these are your main clients I assume you can get it to default to saving V2007 in options. Quote

I already save all my drawings to 2007. I think the problem is with the Electrical part. I could be wrong, but when I save drawings without the electrical attribute properties, anyone using 2009 or 2010 can open my drawings. When I save a drawing with the electrical attributes, only 2010 users can open them. Quote
dbroada Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I can only speak about 2008 where the electrical element doesn't affect other users. The AutoCAD sellers we have spoken to haven't said it would be a problem with 2010E - but they wouldn't would they. Quote
AQucsaiJr Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Ya... This is information they left out for me as well. Quote
dbroada Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 if you can post a sample drawing saved in 2007 format I will see if I can open it with 2008E when I get to work tomorrow. Quote

I got it figured out. Turns out someone else logged into my system and switched my save as version half way through the project. I did not catch it because I changed it after a re-install closer to the end which left a little over half the drawings saved in 2010. Need to lock my computer.. lol. Quote
dbroada Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 good, your symptoms were what I would expect had you still been saving to the latest format. You can usually check what version has been saved by looking at the F2 screen after the drawing is opened. It will usually save "opening a XXXX drawing". Quote
