Customize Fields

Hello all,

I have a question regarding fields.

Currently we title our drawings the same as that of the drawing number with the exception of the "_SOURCE" after the drawing number (XXX12345678_SOURCE) and our drawing number is being populated in the Drawing Properties as XXX12345678.

Obviously i could use the "Filename" field but then it would have "_SOURCE" in it. Is there a way to use a field that is the same as the title minus a set of characters.

So that the Drawing Title is:

XXX12345678_SOURCE

and the Drawing Number within the drawing only shows the first 11 characters of the field name:

XXX12345678

without having to populate the drawing properties?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

I looked into this about a year ago and couldn't get anywhere. Hopefully somebody will be along with a solution but I'm not holding my breath.

Now this posses another question. All of our drawing are build in layout tabs. I have a field that finds the tab name how ever i have to enter in the total sheets. It would be nice if i could get it so that the field counts the total number of layout tabs and populates the field. Any thoughts?
