rizardouz Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hello, Everyone... I need your urgent help, I know what I am about to ask is a bit much but I am cramming now because tomorrow is my autocad 2d exam both practical and theoretical... So I need an easy to understand guide for beginners on making the ff: 1. Tips on drawing 2d drawings (that consists of determining various radius of circles to determine center of some objects, and tips on off-set). 2. Threads and Fasteners (2d representations: simplified, schematic, schematic). 3. Bolt, Screws, and Studs. 4. Lastly, Spur Gears. I am taking this summer class in engineering graphics 2 which is about autocad... And the phasing of the lessons is fast (since the summer term is only 1 month). I am an engineering student, and I am having a hard time on auto-cad, though I have satisfied the course prerequisite which is engineering graphics 1 (manual way using t-square,triangles etc.). Quote
Tankman Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Start by looking at some tutorials, at CadTutor and more. Here's one I like, http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/course/48-568/2DVideosWEB_files/frame.htm Welcome to the forums! Where are you posting from? Quote
ReMark Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Any good mechanical engineering/drafting book will give you enough information to answer questions 2 through 4. The same principles used in manual drafting would still apply to CAD. Could you elaborate a bit on question 1 and "Tips on 2D drawings"? If you want to find the center of an object use the command MTP (M2P will too). By picking specific geometry (using Osnaps) it's possible to determine a midpoint/centerpoint of an object. Quote
rizardouz Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 Thank you! For your replies, well about the tips I am asking about 2d drawings. Since I have been searching the web regarding tutorials about drawing gears, threads etc. Most of the answers I found were suggesting lisp files. But, I want a guide on doing it without those shortcut apps. One more thing, is there a chance that you guys know a free e-book on any good mechanical engineering/drafting book. Quote
ReMark Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Drawing spur gears whether manually or by CAD is not an easy task that's why most answers suggest the use of Lisp routines. Books I continue to recommend are: Basic Technical Drawing by Henry Cecil Spencer. Engineering Drawing by French. Technical Graphics Communication by Bertoline & Webe. I pretty sure they are not available as an e-book. A visit to a college or local library might be in order. Quote
