MisterJingles Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Hi guys I have a problem whereby if I place my titleblock onto my drawing, the company logo/icon disappears and all I see is the outline with the file path in the centre. This happens when I Xref, copy and paste as a block, or if I copy and paste as a bunch of objects. Please help. Rob Quote
dbroada Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 That usually happens when the file path is not available on the computer. A typical instance will be if I have used "C:\logo.jpg" and you open the drawing without having logo.jpg in your c: folder. Quote
NBC Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 The workaround is to open the image file using your preferred image software, copy the image from there, and then paste it into the relevant file(s) containing the titleblock. This will negate the need to 'mess around' with the file location of the image itself, as the image now will be treated as an OLE Quote
MisterJingles Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Ok but this titleblock in on my PC and when opened independantly the logo is visible. NBC - What I end up having to do every time is insert an OLE via Paint but surely I shouldnt have to do this every time. Quote
MikeScott Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 If you insert it into your base start-up drawing.. you'd have it availible for every drawing you do with that file. Quote
MisterJingles Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Base start up drawing being my original titleblock dwg which I xref (or copy) into my drawing? If so then thats exactly what is done, it shows on that titleblock. Only when xreffed in it disappears. Quote
MikeScott Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 no.. I'm referring to the file you start with when you start a new file... nothing you "bring-in".. it's the one you start with when you start-up AutoCAD. Quote
MisterJingles Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Mike the problem is that I virtually only ever work on existing drawings and I input my titleblock afterwards. Does this negate your suggestion or have I misunderstood again? Quote
MikeScott Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Yes, the situation negates my suggestion. I work the same way. Perhaps you should go to your "image manager" and see what it says about the image when you've "brought it in" the normal way. It might just be waiting for you to tell it to "reload/refresh" the graphic or something. Quote
Ryder76 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Is your titleblock in paper space or model? Quote
MisterJingles Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Ill check that Mike. Ryder - My titleblock is in model. Quote
Ryder76 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 If you put your titleblock in paper space you can save it as a template and import it into your layout at will. Then it shouldn't change. Just make your edits to attribute info in paper space. That's what I do here. Quote
