I love etransmit, or I did anyways.............

v2010 (mechanical) seems to have no option to save the drawings down to an earlier version like 2007 did?

The modify transmital setup page looks identical, except that its missing the section to save as.

Is this some bug/quirk in the mechanical version, or is this now standard in 2010?

2010 is a completely new file format. This happens every three versions. You now have to use the export command any files if you want to go back to a previous version. It should be noted that if you have any xref's attached to they will become blocks inserted into the drawing instead of actual xref's if you export back to a previous version.

I realize that, I'm just wondering why they removed the 'save as version' from the etransmit transmittal setup page. It saved a lot of time when dumbing down a large amount of drawings for mailing, and removes a possible requirement of duplicating that file folder somewhere else.

With etransmit, if done correctly, the xref paths remain intact.

Under the File format option you can choose which version you want to save to. Does yours not show this?

In the options if you have your version always save to 2007 I believe Etransmit will use that when saving as well.

I woud just like Autodesk to stop messing with things that work! Yes I can have my cad settings set to save my drawings down to what ever version, that is not the point.

Etransmit had the function where you could set what version you want to send from WITHIN the entransmit command. They have also seemingly removed the xref functions, which now makes entransmit pretty much useless.

oh believe me, I'm right there with you. My biggest frustration was changing whether Model or Paper space is selected within the publish dialog to within the add files dialog.

I just checked again and everything that was there before 2010 under the transmittal setup dialog is still there, just as it was is in versions 2007 and 2009. The dialog box is slightly different in size but it still has the same content.

Can you post a screenshot of your Etransmit settings options? It makes no sense why you would not be able to include xrefs. That defeats the whole purpose of Etransmit. :?

Screen shot as requested....

As for the xref comment, it does have a section (greyed out) about binding xrefs, but (going on memory here) i think there used to be more to it, allowing file structure organization.

Or perhaps not, and I am just (finally) losing it!

Ok well we know for sure your not crazy now.

But what seems very odd is the apparent lack of the File format field in your dialog box. It should be directly below the "Transmittal package type" and above your "Maintain visual fidelity for annotative objects" field. It is on mine at least.

This may be a silly question but would your mechanical app have anything to do with that?

We are running the full 2010 suite, and that was my initial thought about it being the mechanical version. I changed it to the vanilla version and it still looked the same.

I just checked my home version of 2010, it's etransmit function looks like how I remember it should be. I guess it's time for a chat with our IT dept. Gawd I hope that's not me!

It seems to be restricted to the Mechanical editions only for some bizarre reason. We are now using the 2011 suite, and in the mechanical edition, there is no option to 'save file as' along with the xref protion being greyed out. The vanilla version does have both these features enabled.

Bizarre......
