Excel to CAD Table

Has anyone had any luck with converting an excel spreadsheet into a CAD "Table" entity, whether it be third party software or otherwise?
I really don't want an OLE, and the copy, paste special, autocad entities...method drops it in as lines and text, where I would prefer an actual "TABLE"...any suggestions?
