I wasn't aware there was disagreement about this, but recently had a discussion, where another had the opposite view. When noting a dimension, such as 135' x 207', I had been taught 135' always refers to the horizontal and 207' to the vertical. Any out there feel opposite. Thought it was universal arch./eng. standard. Is nothing sacred?

Think about how they dimension windows. Width by height, so a 36x54 is 36 wide and 54 tall. By that logic, you would be correct.
