cggentry Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Ok, this is kind of annoying. I've been working on a 3d Warehouse layout, and i had all of the racking placed and ready to go. I saved and went home last night. Today, no rack. It's gone. They were on frozen, locked layers when I saved. The layers are still there, but the racks are not. Obviously I've thawed and unlocked the layers and regen'd about a million times. This is the 2nd time it's happened to me. Does anybody know why? Sigh... Quote
ReMark Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Maybe you thought you saved? Or... The file you opened up today was not the file you saved yesterday. Have you searched the entire hard drive for the file? Quote
cggentry Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 That is unfortunately not the case. I think I'm going to try and do the rack in a separate drawing and xref it into the other one. Quote

cggentry Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 It's a network server. But get this. My computer crashed, as it usually does, and I restarted. When I opened the drawing this time, all my rack was back. It's like AutoCAD sometimes ignores that it's there... Quote
ReMark Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Alright, so the missing file has somehow mysteriously returned. If I were you I'd work locally and save my files to the hard drive. At the end of the session or day copy the files back to the network. Maybe you have a screwed up path somewhere. Ask someone in IT if they can stop by and give your system the once over. Quote
cggentry Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Yeah, that's a good idea. They told us not to save our data locally, but I had been on some other jobs. I usually have about 10 things that i'm working on simultaneously, and it get's annoying moving files over from my HD to the server folders. But I guess annoyances are better than lost data/time/work. Thanks for your help, as usual. Quote
ReMark Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Try explaining to your boss that you somehow lost a file because of the annoyance factor associated with bringing it over from your network to your hard drive. I bet he'll get someone from IT over to your desk in less than 5 minutes. Quote

With 3D it is usually the 3DCLIP front and/or back plane is on, causing objects to disappear. Sometimes the visual styles will hide funny, make sure you go into 2D shademode also. Quote
