Editing Techniques - Corner, Point and Dimension

Hi,

I am looking for answers regarding the following issues:

1. finding the right-angled corner after the same has been filleted. Example a 200x200 square shaped has been filleted with radius 25 and I want to easily find back the 4 nos. vertex instead of redrawing two orthogonal lines to find their meeting point.

2. I want to re size a point so that it can be easily seen in both model and paper layount.

3. how to re-associate a dimension with a line after the association has been broken.

Thank you very much.

Hi Nicolas

Todays (9-5-2010) tip of the day on the home page can be the best answer to your first question.

In answer to your first point, use the Osnap Intersection. When you click on the first line, the Osnap indicator is an X... The dots show that you have to click on another line to complete the Intersection.

#2- Best of both worlds? Use your dimension style to size them. What's good for modelspace may be no good for paperspace.

#3 Highlight the dimension by selecting it, grab the dimension node's grip and stretch it to the geometry. If you are not familiar with grips, well, you need to be. :-)

Thanks for the intersection snap hint through I have been unable to do it so far. It was difficult at first for I thought I need to click on the cross at the required intersection but each time I reach for it, it disappears. The solution was that I start the line command (l), right click and choose "intersection", hover and click on one of the line when the x... appears, hover on the next line and as soon as the x (not x...) appears, click without regard to the location of the pointer and the line starting point is at the required junction. That's very great. Thank you very much.

I was unable to access the tip of the day... I will try it again today.

For the point, I have been using pdmode command and set it to one of the different codes and it seems working in model but I don't know if this is the normal way of doing it. Someone spoke about dimension style but I don't know of the relationship between point and dimension style.

For my third question, I will try to illustrate using two square 200x200. The first linear dimension (using dimlinear) to one side is associative. However when I copy the same dimension to a second square using copy command the dimension is no more associative (As per Properties - Ctrl + 1 - General). It does suit my purpose for the first time. But I know that in later on this is going to cause havoc in my drawing. The dimension need to be associative. Stretching the grips away and back to the corners of the rectangle does not change the situation.

Thank you very much for your help. :):)

I have just found a command namely Reassociate Dimensions in Dimension menu. It asked for the dimension object and two extensions. The problem is those extensions. When I click on the two vertex, nothing happens, no association. I have to click midpoint along both of them and then the dimension is associated but it is relocated to those midpoints.

I THINK the centermark for circles is the same as the node markers you're trying to resize.

I can't find the setting for it anywhere else.. I do know that it'll resize based on the visual size of the view of the node, just do a REGEN (or maybe even REDRAW)

Thank you Mike. This will be a tremendous help and boost in my work and productivity. Many thanks to you and others who have helped. :)
