salmonrose Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I just got AutoCAD 2011 installed yesterday and the layout isn't the same as 2010 and I just got used to 2010. OK, I can see a few panels on the top of the application the first being "Palettes" and the last being "Layers". Note: I dragged "Layers" to the end by accident. When I hover my pointer on "Layers" panel, more options show up. How can I have those options stay there without hidding? They disappear once I move the pointer away. Thanks. Quote
ReMark Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I thought they could be "pinned" or am I mistaken? If you don't like a panel or you want to rearrange it (get rid of and/or substitute icons) then customize it. Quote

Look to the right of the tab names and find the two down arrow buttons, click on them or hover over to discover what they do. Quote
salmonrose Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 I don't use AutoCAD a lot, mostly I do is change some Mtext, move/trim/extend a few lines, get areas/lengths. That's about it. So I am not good at this application at all. If I used the wrong lingo, please forgive me. Back in AutoCAD 2010, each panel was extended, that is most available buttons were visable. Now with AutoCAD 2011, all buttons are hidden and only show when you hover above each panel. That's a problem for me because I use those buttons alot. For now, I dragged the "Layers" panel out of the ribbon and it is now "floating" on my drawing. The buttons for "Layers" are shown but the "Layer" panel is no long part of the ribbon and is occuping a small portion of my drawing area. So I guess my quesion should be is there a way to change all those panels back to 2010 setting? To ReMark: What is "pinned"? To rkent: After I dragged "Layers" panel out, there are 2 buttons to the right. The top one is "Return Panels back to Ribbon" which does as it said and makes the buttons "hidden" again. So that's not what I need. The second button is "Change Orientation" which either have the extra buttons/options appears to the right or below the current panel. Again, doesn't help me with my problem. Please help. Thanks alot. Quote
ReMark Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Across the top of your screen, where the names of the tabs are is there a small button all the way to the right with a little black down-pointing arrow on it? Quote
