hello all ! sorry for the noob question btw -

i'm trying to rebuild a machine for my dad. his old laptop is on the way out and he bought a newer looking replica of it - i simply want to know the essential steps to migrating his custom menus from the existing installation of Autocad 14 to the new installation of Acad 14; on his "new" laptop.

i will do a fresh install on the new laptop but dont know what files exactly to copy in order for him to get his menus with his custom icons also.

any detailed advice is greatly apreciated..

and if you have a link to an answer i would apreciate it also !

many thanks in advance.

The quick answer is look for a mnu file around R14 often it was acad.mnu that was altered and extra menus added, these days its easier to keep custom menus as stand alone and add as required.

Once you find it check what programs and stuff it using such as lisps dcl's and custom blocks, with memory sticks etc probably copy all your R14 it wasn't very big and then if something is missing you can find it.

Basicly cut out your custom menu bits and create a new one.

If only certain others followed this format....
