crushmaster Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 A problem always confusing me is that when I opened many dwg drawings,to say,30-50 files a time, some longer time was needed and more screen flashing to my eyes who are already very tired after staring the screen for the whole day. So is there a shortcut I can browser the opened files like I was reading a book, like the 'pagedown' key on the keyboard? Thank you in advance and ALT+TAB just jump between different running programs,i know this, but it really do not help Quote
ReMark Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Ctrl + Tab will cycle through AutoCAD drawings. 30 to 50 drawings open at one time? What the heck are you designing? The replacement for the space shuttle? Quote
crushmaster Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 thank you,Remark! Sometimes when i design an assembly, the subassemblysand all the parts contained should be placed on a single drawing.Say 1 assembly, containing 4 subassmebly, each subassembly containing 5 parts,4*5+4+1=25 drawings should be checked at one time. mdbdesign Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 In 2010 is option Quick View Drawing I don't know about version 2007. There was some third party program that display tabs with all open dwgs but can't remember name of it. Quote
H'Angus Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Does Vanilla Autocad have the Design Centre (ctrl+2) or is that just in the vertical products? Quote
crushmaster Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Does Vanilla Autocad have the Design Centre (ctrl+2) or is that just in the vertical products? I never used the Design Centre, what functions from it are you always using to help your daily work? Quote
ReMark Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Plain old vanilla AutoCAD has the Design Center. Content from one drawing can be pulled into another drawing or dropped on a tool palette via the Design Center. Quote
crushmaster Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 I have tried ctr+2,and i am using ACAD 2006.Maybe that is because i am still not familiar with it,what i can find helpful is draging blocks from other drawings into current work. Quote

You can drag blocks, layers, dim styles, text styles, linetypes and layouts between drawings. It's now been sort of outdated by tool palettes, but if you haven't got around to setting up custom palettes then design centre works just fine. We also still use the design centre as our block library instead of having hundreds of blocks on tool palettes. Quote

And i also wonder whether it is possible in AutoCad,i can drag a layer with all the contents on this layer together to another drawing.Let me make it clearer, can we think a drawing as the mixture of some numbers of layers(styles and contents).A drawing=drawing in layer1+drawing in layer2+....drawing in layerX;IF this is true, when i have one drawing modified, the modified part are mainly entity. And the dimensions i did on the former version i do not need to change much,so what i want to do is just replace the entity layer with a new one,and leave the dimensional layer and do a little revisions. Sorry for my english,in short,i just want to drag a layer with its contents from one drawing into another one,is it possible? Quote
ReMark Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 No, you don't drag the layer and all its contents rather you opening drawing "A" and copy the objects on the particular layer you want then you open drawing "B" and paste those objects into the drawing. The layer will be created. Be sure to use the "copy with basepoint" option as it is the most accurate. Quote
