Hi,

I have been using AutoCAD LT for a while now and we are just about to switch to AutoCAD Architecture. Does anyone know if there is a command I can use to do the following. I am mainly dealing with retail shop plans and I want to be able to section of different areas of the plan for the different catagories (eg Electronics, Furniture, Clothing etc). The way I have done this in the past is to draw a polyline around the area and filling the area with a hatch, then using the measure tool to give me the sqms of the shape by using the Object part of the area tool.

This seems like quite a long way round of doing it, ideally what I would like to do is insert a polyline shape as a block with I can manipulate to fit the area I want. If I do this as a block could it be pre named with the category name (eg furniture) and would I be able to view the infomation of the shape (eg sqms)?. It would be even better if I was able to extract this info into a table once all the shapes have been placed on the plan.

For example

Electroncs - 245sqms

Furniture - 385sqms

etc

etc

Really appreciate anyones ideas on this and if it is possible

Thanks

Danny

Yes you can. Have a look at 'spaces' on the design pull down menu. It a bit too big a subject to cover here but there a few videos on the 'Welcome screen' (if you haven't disabled it) that will give you a few pointers. I would suggest you post any specific questions on it in the Architecture & ADT forum.
