New to Autocad, need help with drawing

Hello, I am a researcher trying to create a simple Microfluidic chip in AutoCAD 2009. I would like it to be a simple cross shaped, with circular wells at each end. I am continually having problems in making this design and was wanting to know if someone could give me some really basic and helpful tips.

1. Setting scale of the drawn object to microns

2. Creating a black and white image of the design, for example...

the cross would be transparent, and the background around it would be black.

3. Being able to export the file to an Adobe product to print on a transparency sheet. Though, would it be more accurate to print straight from AutoCAD, if so this can be arranged.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please provide detailed instruction as I am an older professor...

Please don't cross post. I have deleted your other duplicate thread and have renamed this one to something a little more descriptive.

It might help if you could provide a sketch or some kind of photo reference to help illustrate what you're trying to create. I'm sure most members, including myself, have no idea what a Microfluidic chip is?

1. You can set Autocad's drawing units and precision by typing UNITS at the command line and then pick the type and precision you want.

2. Autocad 2009 does not have the ability to allow transparency of objects. So this will not be possible.

3. Which Adobe product will you be using and what type of output will you require? You can print from Autocad to .pdf or .eps format which can then be opened in Photoshop.
