Version: AutoCAD 2008

Hi there,

Been working on projects in autoCAD for a few years, and decided to switch from decimal to architectural, and work in inches/feet (though the plan I am laying out covers several square miles of land).

Since making that change, whenever I try to use the "scale" tool, after I click on a base point, any slight movement with the mouse scales the object to VERY large, and will not let me control it's resizing.

I think it has something to do with units or scales or settings I am unsure of how to change. Anyone else encountered this or know how to fix it? I'd like to be able to use the scale tool for precise scaling with the mouse, as I was able to before.

Thanks!

You may want to turn of SNAP and Object Snap Tracking while in the scale command. I don't know how precise you'll be able to scale visually with your mouse though.

Have you tried using the ®eference option within the scale command?

yeah, I've tried turning the snap off, but unfortunately it doesn't help much. When i used to work in decimals, I was able to scale very accurately, by moving the mouse closer and away from the base point, but now when I barely touch the mouse it grows almost off the drawing space. I can scale the object by typing in numbers for scale factors, but i have to keep trying different numbers to get it just the size I need it to be.

thanks for the reply:)
