sgrant Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 A student friend has recently purchased AutoCAD 2011 that shows a educational stamp. Can she copy the work in model space and print in a commercial license without the plot stamp. I am bit confused as her university education AutoCAD (educational version) does not print the stamp? ReMark Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 It is a violation of the EULA to use content created with the educational version of an AutoDesk program in a commercial version. Quote
JD Mather Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 A student friend has recently purchased AutoCAD 2011 ... First mistake - students can download AutoCAD 2011 for free from http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity I am bit confused as her university education AutoCAD (educational version) does not print the stamp? University license is not the same as student license. In any case, the stamp is no problem for edu work - if one of her professors complains then simply schedule an appointment with the professor's Dean and suggest a discussion on ethical use of student software with the professor. ReMark Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I did not know there was such a thing as a University License. Then it is not the same as a Commercial License? Quote
rkmcswain Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I am bit confused as her university education AutoCAD (educational version) does not print the stamp? If it's the EDU version, then it includes the plot stamp. Run the ._ABOUT command on her "university version" and see what it says about the license type. Quote
JD Mather Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I did not know there was such a thing as a University License. Then it is not the same as a Commercial License? I don't know that they call it "university license", I think it is edu license, I'll check next time I'm in my office. I know it doesn't print banner at least while using that license (don't know if it will print banner if the file is taken to commercial seat). I know my home install says Student License when I go to Help>About...>Product Information and of course it does print banner. Quote
profcad Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 JD, You are correct. The Autodesk Master Suite (aka educational/university) license does NOT have the plot stamp. The students version either purchased or downloaded from Autodesk will display the Educational Stamp. Quote
ReMark Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Is the AutoDesk Master Suite the equivalent of a commercial license? Could the college produce their own drawings for construction of a building on campus? Quote
