I have a drawing (call it A.dwg) of a system of axis where the system of axis is a block with base (0,0,0) I create a new drawing ( call it B.dwg) and I xref A.dwg into B.dwg. Just to check the coordinates, i also copied the block from A.dwg and pasted it into B.dwg by using (ctrl+ C and 'insert to original coorindates'.) In my opinion, the two systems of axis, (the one xrefed, and the other copied) should have exactly same coordinates, but they don't.... But if I explode the block in A.dwg and then 'insert to original coordinates' in B.dwg, they have the same coordinates. I think there must be something wrong with the block, but can not understand what?...I'm not so used to use block either :(

Anyone out there who can help me?

Check the basepoint in both files. They should be (0,0).

I already checked the basepoint and it is (0,0) in both files. The units are also the same in both drawings. Other things I could check?

I read something recently that windows copy to clipboard "Ctrl C" is different from AutoCAD's and can give different results that can become noticeable at great distances away from (0,0). Try using AutoCAD's copy from the edit menu or right click content menu to see if you get different results.

Thanks...but I've tried that too and it doesn't help. I can offcourse explode the block and create a new one and seave the file. That would solve the problem, but I would like to know where the problem comes from in order to avoid it next time...

If you can, post the files and I'll take a look. Maybe I'll see something.

Thanks...here they are...just found out that when I moved the block in A.dwg, there is still a difference in B.dwg from the xrefed file and the copied block, but the difference of displacement changes

I cannot recreate the problem. They line up perfectly no matter what method of insertion I use. Did you check your insertion point for the XREF?

The files i send earlier worked for me as well now....but here I zipped A.dwg again and with this one it does not fit for me...0.065m in difference between the letter-axis and 0.028m between number axis

Okay, I got it to not work. LOL. That is just plain odd. "Paste to original coordinates" does give you a different position than copying and pasting with basepoint (0,0). I think the problem may lie in the distance from (0,0) that you are at. With just a quick glance I couldn't find any difference between the files. What is the difference?

My suggestion would be to work closer to (0,0).

hehe...isn't it just typical that the problem only occurs to me ?:D Thanks anyway for advices and trying to help me out! The files should be the same files as they are copies, but somehow this procedure makes different results for the two files.

I'm anyway heading off for holiday now. Will be off-line. Maybe my AutCAD just needs some holiday too :D
