george weatherman Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 i use borders to save these maps in pdf format..... Quote
designerstuart Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 don't understand...... like drawing a line round each layer? Quote
george weatherman Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 yes, a double line. then, i scale to appropriate sizes, ( 1"=200', 1"=80', 1"=180', etc.) then plot to pdf fo 11" X 17". Quote
designerstuart Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 so command LINE, POLYLINE or RECTANGLE draw your lines where you want print to pdf or am i missing something? Quote
george weatherman Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 you are probably spot on. there are existing "borders" in the layers i have now. i did not create these layers. just want to make sure i can create new layers in different/existing sections of the map without screwing up the existing map/borders. designerstuart Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 yes no problem with that - probably best if you create a layer, call it "borders" and draw them in that. you can turn layers on and off using the drop-down layer box and clicking the light bulb or snowflake. (two different methods for layer management). view all layers by commands LAYON and LAYTHW, and use commands LAYOFF and LAYFRZ to click them off individually. that way you can manage which layers you want to show in your pdf print. if your border is on another layer, it might be easier to control..... as well as less likely to screw up what you had before!
