CAD Library Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 hello all! I have irregular shapes in my plan. Can autocad calculate the area of these shapes/areas automatically? can you give me the command how to do this? thank you.. I'll appreciate your help. -Hanna Quote
MSasu Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 For sure it can! In fact the answer is just in your thread's title - command AREA. It will allow you to specify a contour by picking his vertexes or can indicate a closed entity. May also perform add or subtract operations between different shapes. Regards, Quote
CAD Library Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 Thank you! yes.. I forgot the area command... I thought it wont work on irregular shapes... Quote
designerstuart Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Also - the area is shown for all polylines and splines in the properties palette - no command required! Quote
MSasu Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 For sure it works with irregular surfaces, it works even with self-intersecting ones. The only condition is to be a close curve, region or solid (area of all faces); for not-closed curves the results can be unpredictable (but perimeter is correctly listed). Regards, Quote
