Properties box not showing properites?

I have installed AutoCAD 2011 at home and for some unknown reason when I click on an object the properties box flashes, like its doing something, But then does not display the relevant properties rather it stays the same as when you have nothing highlighted.

Is there an option or setting somewhere to change this? Or is it an "install...." issue.
