ibbo Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I have opend drawing that was not created in Autocad. I am trying to copy 100's of positions of text, but I get the following: Substituting [simplex.shx] for [News Gothic MT]. Substituting [simplex.shx] for [HELV-1F.shx]. Specify insertion point: I specify insertion point but nothing happens? I am running Autocad 2010. Quote
ReMark Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 What program was used to create the original drawing? Quote
ibbo Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 I am waiting for a reply from the person who originally sent it to me. Is there any other way I can find this information from the drawing. The drawing has been saved as a dwg, but when you open up the drawing you get the dialog box warning that it has been created using Autocad. Quote
ReMark Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 You opened this drawing using AutoCAD 2010 and other than some messages about substituting fonts no other error messages came up, right? Did you do a Zoom > Extents at that point? Did you open the Layer Properties manager and see what its contents might be? Ask this 'other person' if they can create a DXF file for you as well. Quote
ibbo Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Yes, I opend in 2010 but I get the following message "This DWG file was saved by an application that was not developed or licensed by Autodesk". " Do you still want to open?" There were Xrefs that where missing which I am not concerned about as the drawing was bound. I have recieved information back from the apparent person that created it but they are adamant it was created by Autodesk???? I have viewed extents and layers all looks well. Quote
ibbo Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 I now have a dxf file, when I open the warning does not come up. I still cannot copy & pate anything on the drawing? Quote
ReMark Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Can you post the drawing for us to have a look at? What are you trying to copy/paste? Is it something from another AutoCAD drawing you've created? Quote
ibbo Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 I am trying to copy a multiline text. Nothing at all can be copied and pasted on the drawing. I am adding data cabling points that are green dots. I need to add their IDs. Thanks Please see DXF drawing. I will also attatch DWG with non Autocad message. What is the best way to send drawing as it exceeds forums amount. drawing is 1.64Mb. Quote
