Hello all,

At one point I remember using a block at one of my companies that had some components of it that were hidden until you selected the block.

so for a basic example, normally you would just see this:

SHAPE

but when you select the block you would see:

_______

|SHAPE|

--------

Anyone know how this was done, or am I remembering this incorrectly? I believe I was using AutoCAD MEP 2009 at the time.

thanks!

It doesn't ring a bell. Just clicking on the block was enough to make the invisible portion of it visible? Sounds like some kind of Dynamic Block.

yes. the invisible portions were for electrical clearances, occupancy sensor and fire alarm initiator coverage areas, etc. normal view did not show this, but when the blocks were selected, one or multiple, these lines would appear. It was nice for laying them out, you could select similar and see what areas were covered and when none were selected the lines "disappeared".
